About

Nahel Al Halabi is a composer and conductor whose artistic work unfolds across Western and Middle Eastern cultural worlds.

Born in Syria and artistically formed between the Arab world and Europe, his musical language is rooted in dialogue: between traditions and contemporaneity, memory and creation, written music and oral heritage.

His compositional practice explores the meeting points between Western art music and Middle Eastern musical thought, drawing inspiration from modal systems, timbral research, and the expressive power of collective sound. Rather than juxtaposing traditions, his work seeks integration — allowing different musical worlds to resonate within a shared space.

Alongside composition, Nahel Al Halabi is active as a conductor and cultural project designer. He collaborates with ensembles, orchestras, educational institutions, and cultural organizations to develop artistic initiatives that place music at the center of intercultural dialogue. His projects often combine performance, education, and research, with particular attention to intangible cultural heritage and contemporary creation.

Central to his artistic vision is the idea of music as a bridge: a space where identities are not fixed, but listened to; where history is not preserved as a relic, but transformed into living sound. Through composition, conducting, and pedagogy, he conceives music as a shared act of listening — capable of generating understanding, memory, and new forms of coexistence.
